Experience the Siege of Mirkwood with new screenshots

The Lord of the Rings Online has a new expansion looming over the horizon named Siege of Mirkwood. The expansion is the conclusion to Volume II of the The Lord of the Rings Online's ongoing narrative and is to be released on December 1st, 2009. Siege of Mirkwood takes place in the forest by the same name which was, as fans may recall, the location in middle earth where Sauron had gathered his strength for many years before returning to the fortress towers of Barad-dur in Mordor. Mirkwood is also home to many of the brood of She'lob, the monstrous ancient spider who lives atop the pass of Cirith Ungol. Players should expect lots of giant spiders to spare.
