Here are two new trailers from
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, fresh from PAX. I know the first RE lightgun game on Wii,
Umbrella Chronicles, sold quite well, but to me it felt like a well intentioned insult. The project started out as a traditional compilation of the first handful of RE games retrofitted with the RE4 gameplay, but early in development the team lead decided that Wii players' attention spans were too short for a real survival horror game, and their gaming abilities weren't up to snuff. So instead we got a rail shooter. It's kind of strange that they'd make a hardcore-oriented, violent zombie killing game more accessible for the Wii's minigame playing casual audience, but hey it happened.
Now they're doing it again, focusing on Leon and Claire's escapades in RE2. The second RE game is considered the best by some fans and the one that needs a remake the most, and I can't help but be disappointed that it's being done on-rails. Sorry to bum out any Wii owners who really are excited for this release, but after so many Houses of the Dead and the lackluster RE: Gun Survivor series, I just can't get excited about another zombie lightgun shooter.
