Why do these wonderful things always have to be so hard to get? Japanese toy company Dimension Diver offered these beatiful Megaman and Samus figures at the Tokyo Wonder Festival. They are pre-painted resin kits that you have to assemble yourself, with sold-sperately joint kits to make them posable. Naturally, they're in extremely limited quantities and even if you could find one on an import site for the going rate of 12,000 yen (around $125) they've all been preordered up.
It's a real shame that they don't produce these in higher numbers and sell them at specialty shops here in the states. Regular readers know I'm a huge Metroid fanboy and there really aren't any affordable Samus figures here in the states. The only one I can remember was a cheap-ish Nintendo Power figure from a few years back, and even that's going for $400 on Ebay. I'm not much of a fan of the Blue Bomber but I'm sure Megaman enthusiasts are cursing the scarcity of these figures too. I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't license this kind of thing...sure I can buy a Master Chief or Marcus Fenix figurine but what about Samus, Starfox or Link? Why not release a Smash Bros collector's series? I guess for now the only option is scouring Ebay or plunking down the dough for First4Figures exorbitantly priced (but expertly made) sculpts. Maybe it's just me but with so many old-school Nintendo fans out there, a line of collectible Nintendo figures sounds like a natural cash cow.
