One of the first Tom Clancy branded games to cross over to a mainstream novel was the Splinter Cell series. With it's complex and intriguing lead character in Sam Fisher, author David Michaels has been able to introduce and keep alive a well-written series that ran independent of the yearly game releases. Not surprising,
this fall we will get the 6th book in the series (1st since Nov 2007's SC: Fallout) when
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction makes its way to store shelves.
Although the game has been
pushed back to March 2010, the novel is slated to come out on November 24th, 2009 and should be close to the same plotline as the game. Recently, the Tom Clancy branded novels have shared names and plots with the games (EndWar and Ghost Recon) instead of just running a separate path. Although there wasn't a summary provided, reading the book prior to the game release may provide some insight on what to expect next Spring.
If you are a fan of the Splinter Cell games, I highly encourage you to pick up the series and read it from the beginning. It is well written and provided that extra depth into the complex nature of Sam that can help you understand him better while playing the games.
