Usually, games that are multi-platform that come out for both consoles and PC will see the PC version having a $10 price reduction when comparing regular versions. Well, it looks like
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going to break that trend. Checking
Gamespot,
Amazon, and
Buy.com you can see it's set at the $59.99 price point. Upcoming games such as
Dragon Age: Origins,
Wolfenstein and
Alpha Protocol are still $49.99 for the PC version.
Mass Effect 2 show $49.99 on Gamestop but Buy.com and Amazon has ME2 for $59 for the PC. The game's going to sell like crazy and Activision's probably looking at the fact that PC gamers will pay the same price for arguably the biggest game of the year.
Personally, I think games are overpriced as it is and PC folks could take comfort in knowing that they didn't pay that premium that console folks do. Well, Activision might be setting a precedent with the release of
Modern Warfare 2 at the same price. I'd hate to see other publishers follow suit though and pricing sure fire hits at a higher price point.
Thanks
Beefjack for the heads up.
