After week upon week of so-so Virtual Console releases, Nintendo is really giving gamers something to cheer about with this week's entry. It looks like it's none other than Final Fantasy III, the elusive 8-bit role-playing game that has only been released in the states once. Thus brings us the first Square game on the Virtual Console. Now it's time to celebrate, everybody, let's celebrate ...
What's that? Final Fantasy III is only coming out in Japan? Oh, well, what do we American gamers have to look forward to on the Virtual Console this week? NOTHING?!?!? You mean Nintendo isn't releasing a single game? Not even crap like Total Recall? Thanks for nothing, Big N.
Thankfully Nintendo did decide to offer something for the WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare. Let's start with the Wii. Starting today Final Fantasy fans can check out
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord. I haven't played the game yet, but I'm sure it's better than the disastrous
Echoes of Time. WiiWare fans also get
Battle Poker and something called
5 Spots Party. Gulp. The games retail for $10, $8 and $5, respectively.
Over on the DSiWare, Nintendo has yet another entry in the Art Styles series. This time around it's Art Styles: ZENGAGE, which sounds a lot like the Nokia N-Gage (let's hope it fairs better). This newest Art Styles game retails for $5, so fans of the series should be on the look out for that. It looks like this week's Retro Round-Up is going to be mighty short on content.
