Madden 10 demo to only be available at Gamestop

I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me that the game franchise known for exclusivity has once again shown its colors. Instead of the players getting access to a demo of Madden 10 on PSN or Xbox Live before the Aug 14th release, the only way to get at it is by reserving a copy at Gamestop. The demo itself will have four, 5-minute playable quarters of the cardinals and Steelers matchup from the last Super Bowl. The exclusive demo codes will be available in-store starting on July 15th to those that reserve the game.

You can probably tell I’m not a fan of this practice (or releasing a demo weeks after the game arrives), as in my opinion demos should be something available to everyone that has access to download them through their chosen gaming service. It also takes away the opportunity for owners of both the 360 and PS3 to download and compare the versions ahead of time before deciding which platform to purchase it for. So what are everyone’s thoughts of demos of highly sought games being used as a sales bargaining chip?
