We got a short overview of FIFA 10 title from producer David Rutter. What’s interesting about the title (and why it’s being shown at E3 for the first time in years) is that the US is the number two market for the game in the world (the UK is number one). The focus this year has been refining the best selling sports game in the world with 70% of the development team working on refinements while the rest of the team works on new innovations for the game.
The big innovation for the year is a new 360 dribbling system which allows player to move around defenders with a full 360 degrees of freedom (last year’s version had only eight degrees of movement). There’s also a new practice mode and a few other tweaks to the shooting, passing, and goalkeeping system.
The game does look good and with the FIFA World cup ramping up I think we’re going to see a bit more interest in the game. EA is also promising more details on FIFA 10 before it’s released later this fall.
