Sega has announced that
The Conduit will be heading to stores on June 23rd. The Wii FPS is notable for the fact that developer High Voltage Software is doing anything and everything to make the game look close to HD as possible. I first saw the game at E3 last year and it was hard to believe that the game was actually running on the Wii as the graphics look better than any other game on the platform. If you want more information on how they are doing it check out our
interview with Chief Creative Officer Eric Nosginer.
It's going to be interesting to see how well the game sells on the platform as it's a third party game that doesn't fit into the sterotypical Wii demographic. It's a big risk and you just have to look at the initial low sales numbers of
Grand Theft Auto:Chinatown Wars to see that the game has a fairly large hurdle to get over. Of course if the game is a success it could pave the way for more developers to expand the market and it might allow High Voltage to license the engine behind the game to other developers. Hopefully we'll get a better feeling for the quality of the game after E3.
The Conduit unfolds in a near-future Washington DC after a set of inexplicable events has left the city in a state of panic. As new recruits of a shadowy government agency, players will investigate strange occurrences upsetting the city, all while trying to keep one step ahead of a mysterious and lethal enemy.
