GOG offers game bundles for last minute gifts

Good Old Games has put together some sweet holiday gift bundles for those of us that wait until the very last minute to shop. Some of gamers' favorite classic sets are part of the deal.

Most of the bundles updated to run under Windows XP and Vista with out emulators are futuristic adventures. The post apocalyptic RPGs, Fallout and Fallout 2 are bundled together, as are the infamous Murder, Death, Kill and MDK 2 third person shooters. Space age combat simulator Freespace with the Silent Threat mission pack and Freespace 2 are another strong pair with a loyal fan base. The futuristic first-person-shooter series Descent 1 & 2 and Descent 3 with Mercenary expansion is an excellent offer as well. Stonekeep and Lionheart are two classic RPG dungeon crawlers for the traditionalist on your list.

Each set goes for $9.98, or if you've already got one title, you can get $1 off the other. The holiday season ends December 31 and so do these deals. I wish all my Christmas shopping had been this easy.

Oddworld fans should take note that GOG also has the first part of an Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee retrospective article written by David Craddock with contributions from Oddworld's Creative Director, Lorne Lanning. If GOG continues to offer exclusives such as this as well as inexpensive classic games, they should be able to successfully carve a niche in the market.
