Dissidia Final Fantasy slotted for Summer 2009

Square Enix announced yesterday that North America should expect Dissidia Final Fantasy for the PlayStation Portable in the middle of the year 2009. Huh? What? Another Final Fantasy PSP game? That's right ladies and gentlemen. This time around you can expect a story of two gods battling for supremacy; a goddess of harmony (Cosmos) and a god of discord (Chaos). Players will choose a side (hoorahh replayability) and then pick their dream team of FF characters to wipe both gods off the face of the earth, err I mean, battle the forces of discord or harmony. The battle system was developed by the creators of Kingdom Hearts so I expect there will be a mish mash of real time and strategy to combat. Of course if your a fan of FF then the most exciting news might be that all characters will retain some of the more popular abilities from their respect series such as limit break, EX burst, overdrive and the ability to summon Aeons, whatever that means.

Celebrating 20 years of the renowned series that has shipped over 85 million units worldwide, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY brings together the largest collection of FINAL FANTASY characters ever in a fighting-styled game where players can choose their allegiance between good and evil. 

 

 

STORY

Cosmos, the goddess of harmony. Chaos, the god of discord. Reigning from distant realms, the two gods had gathered warriors from all lands to lead them in savage war.

 

Cosmos and Chaos were of equal strength. It was believed the conflict would last forever. However, the balance is now broken.

 

Those who answered Chaos's call created an inexhaustible force. And under vicious attack without relent, the warriors fighting for Cosmos started to fall one by one. The conflict that has continued for eons is now about to end in Chaos's favor.

 

The world has been torn asunder, sinking into a vortex of disorder. As for the few surviving warriors… their fates have yet to be determined.
