Gamasutra has posted their
top five game mechanics of 2008 and there's not much to disagree with as they cover the time travel mechanic from
Braid, the zombie mechanics from
Left 4 Dead, puzzle making with
LittleBigPlanet, and a few others.
One thing they don't cover is that the game industry seemed to move away from quick time button sequences this year. Sure there were a few games that utilized this but for the most part it seemed like companies are starting to leave this behind them. Is there anything Gamasutra missed?
