Midnight Club: Los Angeles announces 97-song club-banger soundtrack

Rockstar Games' soundtracks are nice.  They just announced 27 of the 97-song list populating Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and Rockstar's music supervisor has a well-earned paycheck coming their way.  And definitely not because there's a bunch of obvious and easy-to-pick oldies on there.  While some of these tracks might dip a little ways back, like Beck's "Timebomb" (2007), some, like Bloc Party's "Mercury" (2008), are barely two months old.  Plus the soundtrack perfectly adheres to a West Coast climate, even if the artist is traditionally an East Coast act (Nas's "Hero" is a banger, I don't care where you're from), a keyboardist squeezing bounce out of a stiff-necked German electronica heritage (Modeselektor's "The White Flash"), or a continually-blowing-up internet phenom (Cool Kids with "What It Is"). 

On the downside, Ice Cube's "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" won't keep you awake during its 4:42 minutes, and Santogold's original "L.E.S Artistes" is a bit sugary, but superior to Midnight Club: Los Angeles' selection of the annoying Switch Remix version.
