While you aren't going to be on foot much during your time in
Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Rockstar has partnered with Jordan Brand to give away a limited edition run of Air-Jordan-II-inspired sneakers ($380 MSRP). Only 40 pairs will be manufactured, and you'll have to look towards the
Rockstar Games Social Club, the
Foot Action Star Club, or through
DUB magazine to get your hands/feet on/in them. Yeah, okay, the shoes are fine, but the history behind the Midnight Club is more intriguing (although, full disclosure, I'm taking the word of a Rockstar PR guy when it comes to the veracity of this info).
"...The sneakers are a custom design for Rockstar Games styled in red and black with the official Midnight Club "Kanji" symbol emblazoned in red on the tongue. Translated, Kanji means Bayshore -- the location on the Japanese coast where street racing started. Formed in 1985, the original Midnight Club was a Japanese street racing gang that hosted illegal races on the Bayshore Route of the Shuto Expressway between Tokyo to Yokohama. Regarded as one of the longest-running street racing gangs, the Midnight Club became one of the most notorious and highly-respected groups of its type."
